If Only They Built It... LS GYM STAGE

This is part of a series called If Only They Built It... My use of SketchUp began in 7th grade and that year, I made an elaborate model of my school, Rye Country Day School (I'm now an alum.) Between 7th and 9th grades, I copied my school model and made additions and changes I wished to see in real life, some with excruciating detail. 8 years later, it's time to revisit those ideas. LOWER SCHOOL GYM STAGE

In my SketchUp world, I decided to create a stage addition to Cedar Street-facing end of the Lower School Gymnasium. The Lower School Gym may be more recognizable to some old-timers as the "Girl's Gym." It was constructed in 1957, I want to say (someone can fact check that--the cornerstone near northeast corner has the year,) and the title changed in the early 2000s. The simple stage I designed was raised about 4 feet, had a small backstage area, and also included mounted lights over the basketball court.

I even included a lighting and sound booth on wheels. In my head, the cart would reach the basketball court by being wheeled through the two roll-up doors seen above
